“Let me touch you,” she pleaded with him, her hands moving over his body. “Give me at least that, Joshua. Please take this nightmare from my mind.”
“Oh God, Arriane, I will not survive it.” He swallowed tightly, his head falling back as her tongue raked his abdomen.
“I could give you pleasure again,” she whispered. “You allowed me that first night.”
“I forced you that first night.” His cock was raging as he remembered the agony, the pleasure that was so close to mind numbing pain that he could not bear it.
“I gave to you,” she told him, her fingers plucking restlessly at the laces of his breeches, where the stays were taut and difficult to open for the straining length of his shaft. “You did not force anything, I found joy in you.”
The ties parted, her hand, soft as silk and warm as fire, lifted his erection free.
He looked down at her, watching her tongue, soft and moist, touch the straining head.
He would not be able to find his control, he thought as his hips strained closer to her touch. God help him, he would take her and he would destroy her as he did so.
He was but a second from jerking her to the bed and burying his shaft between her thighs, when the hard knock came at his door.
Joshua jumped from the bed, closing his breeches quickly before allowing the intruders to enter. Ariel and Caitlin did just that, rather quickly, their eyes locating Arriane huddled on the bed, then flashing to Joshua with a light of knowledge.
“We will stay with her,” Ariel announced, her fierce frown and wary tone of voice warning Joshua that this night had yet to come to an end. “Chantel asks that you join her, Devlin and Father in the room.”
Joshua sighed wearily, his hand smoothing over Arriane’s hair as she now lay silently against him.
“I’ll be back soon,” he promised her as Ariel touched her shoulder, sitting on the bed as he eased away from her.
Joshua stared at her worriedly as she curled up in the spot he had vacated as though searching now for his warmth.
“She will be fine until you return, Mystic,” Caitlin whispered as he looked over at her, her sea-green eyes dark and concerned. “You need to join Devlin now, there are things you should know, if you are of a mind to help her through this.”
He wanted to snap his refusal to do so, but the words wouldn’t come. He shook his head abruptly and headed from the room.
Joshua did not like the way events were so carefully orchestrated within this castle, he admitted. It was as though there was darkness surrounding them, drawing the warriors so close to these women that they would become part of their souls, while something seemed to hover over them as well, a threat, a promise to snatch them back just as quickly.
